Obama in the Potato State

Yes, that is right! Obama, the President of the United States came to the town of Boise, Idaho today. For reasons, I did not attend, but in truth, probably should have. He came down to Boise State, home of the famous blue turf football field.

I work at a place called Rekluse Motor Sports, and the Boise State Engineering sector was a place where the company technically began. Obama decided to tour this area which included looking at product from Rekluse, and meeting some of the employees I work with. He also mentioned us during his presentation in the small sports complex.

Although I did not get to go down and see him, I enjoyed the idea of the President being in our small, usually ignored state and city, speaking about a local company I am so luckily involved in!

From KTVB, here is Obama in the Potato State.

Semester Two

Second semester has official began. I am taking four classes, as I decided to "de-busy" myself. I have always been the person to be crazy busy all of the time. I would always take every opportunity. If I began questioning the value of it, usually I would tell myself to "just do it". This time, for an internship, I decided to just not do it. It didn't feel right, and It seemed like the best thing to do. It is weird that for the first time, I decided to not do an opportunity. Which thinking about it, is probably best that I don't go along with every thing handed to me.

Anyways, my classes, are great! Lets see my Geology of Natural Disasters class is interesting. It is at 7 AM which is so early that I am not sure I will survive that in itself. Besides that, so far, the teacher and content is intriguing and I am excited! My Social Problems class will definitely be one of my favorites. The teacher has literally been speaking what my mind has had the trouble of saying for years. The way society is, and how to view it. I am completely stoked to begin questioning everything about society for the next 16 weeks! Oh, and my Intro to Video Production class, yep, I am looking forward to that. Let us just say that in that class, we meet at a local TV station, and we will be filming a show to be played on the local TV station every week. Finally, I am taking an online Health and Wellness course which I plan to have the goal of not eating fast food. Instead I will be learning to cook healthy and good things!

Because I have decided against doing my internship, I have a lot of free time. I plan to use this free time to do some job shadows and hopefully figure out my true calling in life. Weather it be a newspaper or magazine place, or maybe a radio or TV station, I am quite excited.

I leave you with this quote:

But one of the things I learned is that when you fight for something you believe in and you tell the truth and you do your best, you can always hold your head up high and no one can take that away from you.     -Vanessa Kerry

Flashback to 2012

I used to, and still do when the weather is nice, this thing where I will sit on my roof outside my room and write. Though I only did this in the dark. I wouldn't write anything specific. I would just sit and write about my surroundings. The smells, the view, the weather, the sounds, the people, really everything that caught my attention. I thought I would share a couple of them.

The first one I wrote on Sunday, November 25, 2012.

The sky is dark, with a little light in it to the mid left. It is cold enough to see my breath and I hear sounds like gun shots but softer. The Christmas tree lights from my house, and ones near by make a welcoming sight. The world is still, no breeze, no rain, nothing bu the sound of sirens in the distance. Cars driving by a nearby busy road, and a is person pulling into a house down the street. I can see a well lit up street from here, and a white car pulling into the gravely driveway. As people exit the car, and lock it, it gives the neighborhood some life. A soft glow of the moon comes from strait above. As a loud truck and motorcycle roar by, the neighborhood becomes less lonely in the frigid dark night.

I notice the grammar and such is not on point, but to me, it is not only the grammar that matters in writing. I also know this is not my best, but that is the best thing about creative writing, you can write however you choose.

The second one I wrote a few days later on Thursday, November 9, 2012.

It is a pretty creepy night. The sound of wind chimes in the distance, leaves tumbling down the road, tree branches moving, and cars roaming by. It is windy and you can hear the wind traveling through the tops of the trees. As people arrive at a home nearby, and light their cigarettes, it gives the night an extra edge with their voices in the background. The street across from my window seems creepier and edgier than before. The lifeless road with spots of darkness and spots of light. Christmas lights contradict with the alley feeling neighborhood, being distributed as a car roles by. A soft light as if from a flashlight gives a sense of horror from the street down the way. Leaves sound like little kids running in the wind, airplanes fly by sounding like a a noise from a toy helicopter.

Just Another Photography Trip

September 21, 2014. An ordinary day where I took my camera out. I ventured out to the great Boise train depot. The train depot is a favorite among any photographer really. Since I recently had gotten my camera, I decided to head over on an annoyingly on and off rainy day.

There is a reason why its a photographers favorite. The scenery, view, and historical value makes it one that tourists and locals enjoy taking a visit too. You can even take an elevator ride up the top of the tower.

The building in itself it quite the beauty.

The flowers, ponds, trees, and the cave just below the depot is a place where prom pictures, family gems, and senior pictures are often taken. While there, I saw at least three shoots occurring, and this was on a cool rainy day.

The scenery of the train depot goes hand and hand with its view. Its definitely a crowds favorite. The street the train depot is on, is a famous one. On one end you have the Idaho Capital building, on the other end, the historic train depot.

Finally, what would a train depot be without the tracks?

Welcoming 2015!

Happy 2015 Everyone! As weird as it is to say so, 2014 is officially over. My last day of 2014 was an interesting one indeed. Beginning with the trouble of a frozen car door, to spending time with those I haven't seen in a while, and ending with the best evening in downtown Boise!

Once I got into my car, and I spent a few hours at work, I went to have coffee with most of my church girls! It was nice, and crowded, sitting with them and discussing our new lives we have been living.

After working, writing my last blog post for 2014, and watching the end of the fiesta bowl (..go BSU!), it was time for the downtown adventure to begin.

Idaho began this thing called the Idaho Potato Drop. It began last year where they drop a giant potato in the same style as the ball in New York. I went the first year, and returned to it for the second annual potato drop.

Since New Years eve was to be the coldest night Boise has seen this winter so far, my friends and I bundled up and spent about three hours in my favorite coffee shop. We decided to head down there super early to beat the crazy crowd. Early as in 7 P.M. The coffee shop we went to was the District Coffee House (check out my past post on it!).

Around 10 P.M. we decided it was time to hit the streets. We walked down to a couple of the stages for a few minutes and then found our spot for the evening show, the Potato Drop. We were close to the fence which mean the news crew could see us well...and well, lets just say this was a thing on T.V.:

The night was so wonderful! The only way you can really see what crazy thing happened with my friends, and the greatness that is Idaho, is by watching my New Years Eve video! It is a little longer than I expected. But really, how can you cut out some of the best moments of the night. In reality, almost every moment was the best, that is why it is a little long, but enjoyable! So, enjoy!

Oh, and have a happy New Year and a splendid 2015!
