Jump Creek Adventures - Number One

The world holds so many secret wonders. Through wilderness, deserts, cities, beaches, lakes, and rivers you can find the most beautiful landscapes. Idaho holds around 83, 574 square miles of unforgettable lakes and mountains. Not only is it heavy forested and dusted with lakes, but Idaho also has special place in its heart for desert land. In the southern parts of the state you can find hours and hours of desert. As you head out of the cities capital and begin your journey down south, you come across the edge of the Owyhee Mountain range. Driving close to it, you can see some small canyons in the side of the mountains. As you approach one, you will see a place for a bunch of cars to park...curious, isn't it. In the middle of the desert...a half hour away from any town. Well, once you park, and head into the canyon, you will find that 1/4 of a mile hike filled with angelic streams, and plants you may stumble upon a waterfall. The hike into it, is short and sweet. The green fragile bushes surrounding create a path that is expected to be followed. Consequences of travelling off such path may result in walking strait into a ton of poison ivy bushes...which is no fun. If you are looking for an adventure, head near those itchy bushes, and you may find yourself in some hidden caves also surrounded by a reflecting water hole. The area in the summer is hot and humid..that is until you reach the wondrous, hidden waterfall called Jump Creek. The waterfall is from the snow melt, creating a well-formed swimming hole. The 60-foot waterfall is surrounded by rock with a rocky and muckish water below. Perfect for a summer cool down, a scenic view for prospectors, or for adventure seekers, you may hike up the rocks and see the beautiful trails Jump creek has to offer. Whatever you may be there for, it is definitely a place that brings peace, comfort, and a memory to last a life time.
